On May 13, 2009 Laurie Chan and Leana Garraway were invited to Samahquam First Nation to host a dinner, and present the FNFNES to the community. There were 17 members of the community present. Questions and comments were fielded and a general consensus was reached that the community was interested in participating in the study. The next morning a meeting was held between Laurie, Leana, Chief Keith Smith and council. The FNFNES was again presented and discussed, and it was decided that Samahquam First Nation would participate in the FNFNES.
